Indoor Futsal is Back!

We’ve been on a bit of a hiatus since Lutheran North Academy closed back in September. Since then, a new school has taken over the campus and have agreed to let us continue playing futsal at the gym.

Starting May 2025, we’ll be playing on Friday nights at Heritage Classical Academy.

5v5 Indoor Soccer

At Houston Town, our preferred version of indoor soccer is what players around the world would refer to as futsal. Our pickup futsal games in The Heights are played without the use of walls, on a basketball court (indoor), with a weighted futsal ball and 5 players per side.

Heights Location

We used to host indoor pickup games in the Garden Oaks / Oak Forest (GOOF) area of The Heights at the gym inside Heritage Classical Academt (formerly Lutheran North Academy) on Friday nights.

We are looking for a new location and will hopefully have an update soon!

How We Play

Our indoor pickups are 5-a-side indoor soccer games that take key elements of futsal. Since this is pickup, we don’t play by official futsal rules, but we do play with futsal goals and a futsal ball which is weighted and slightly smaller than an outdoor, size 5 soccer ball.

The best place to play (real) Futsal in Houston! David was a great host and organizer, making sure everything ran smoothly and that everyone had a good time.One thing that really stood out to me was the diversity of the people who showed up to play. There were players of all ages, genders, and skill levels, which made for a really inclusive and fun atmosphere. It's great to see a futsal community that welcomes everyone and celebrates the beautiful game in all its forms.Overall, I highly recommend David's place for anyone who loves futsal or wants to try it out. I love this place, people is so friendly and the level is competitive. Also anyone is welcome to come regarding of your color, race or preferences. It is a very inclusive place.David is a great host and he is always trying to improve the experience. For example he introduced rewards for the number of games that you’ve been playing. At least for me that wasn’t necessary since I love playing soccer however I can see that could help to get more people and also somehow makes me feel appreciated.So I encourage anyone that wants to play Futsal to come and join the family.

The best pickup for Futsal at Houston. Games are on the competitive side but everyone still ends up having fun. A very diverse group of people show up here, and it is great to meet and play with so many different people who come from different parts of the country or World ! I myself moved to Houston a few years ago and started playing with this group and most of the guys who i met here are my good friends now!Whether you had a bad game or a good game, everyone is welcomed to grab a beer at the nearest bar after the game and hangout !!!The host David is very passionate about soccer and his vision to bring the futsal/street soccer scene to Houston is very fascinating.I will definitely suggest everyone who likes soccer checking out Houston Town Futsal ! Thank you David for organizing one of the most interesting indoor futsal in Houston. The new facility is pretty nice and qualified. I really like the new atmosphere and how the competitive it is. Make sure that you sign up before going to the game because the spots are filled up quickly.

I always have a great time at Houston Town Futsal! The play is consistently competitive yet the vibe is friendly and easy-going. One of my favorite things is going out and socializing afterwards to learn more about the different cultures and backgrounds of each of the players.

Having moved to Houston recently and tried a lot of pickup places, I can say that this is definitely one of the best I’ve been to. Probably in my top 1.The games are fun and competitive, the people are cool, and David’s an awesome host. All you need from a pickup game.

This place embodies the culture, the art and the love for the game, period! Love Houston Town Futsal's new indoor soccer location in Clear Lake. It's at the Gilruth Center which is literally on NASA's campus! Fun 5v5 pickup games with good competition.

FAQs

Can Anyone Play?

All adult coeds 18+ are welcome to play. However, please keep in mind that most players do have previous soccer playing experience.

Does it Cost $ to Play?

Yes. Indoor futsal pickup at Heritage Classical Academy cost $15 to play for two hours.

How do I sign up to play?

Please go to our Houston Town page on Meetup here to RSVP.

How are the Teams Formed?

Teams are randomly selected after you check in. Some people will come with one or two friends and request to play on the same team which is totally fine.

We provide soccer bibs so it’s easy to tell who is on which team.

Do I Need to Wear Shin Guards?

If you practice safe soccer then great, but you don’t have to wear them.

Is There Futsal for Kids?

Unfortunately, Houston Town does not currently offer youth futsal programs.

In the meantime, we can put you in touch with a local organization that is doing great things on the youth futsal front if you are having trouble finding one.
